A wooden house, the sea, and a garden full of palms.
A 600 sqm garden opens directly onto Lovina's quiet black volcanic beach.
An original Javanese wooden house, dismantled and lovingly rebuilt under swaying palms.
An infrared sauna gives the Joglo an extra layer of slow-living comfort after beach walks and long swims.
Carved teak, hand-laid stone, soft linens, and the kind of light only a wooden house gives.
The house
The Joglo by the Sea is a single antique joglo — a traditional Javanese wooden house — rebuilt on a 600 sqm beachfront plot in Lovina. Inside, carved teak pillars hold up a peaked ceiling. Outside, a veranda looks across the garden to the sea.
It’s a romantic, gentle house. One bedroom, an ensuite bathroom, and an open living and kitchen space that flows onto the veranda. The sound of the sea is constant. The light through the wooden walls in the late afternoon is one of the best things in Bali.
Most days here have one shape: coffee on the veranda, a swim in the bay, a long lunch, an afternoon book, a sunset on the sand. Repeat.
The experience
Breakfast is already on the table when you wake — cooked, hot, and facing the ocean, with nothing between you and the water but a stretch of garden. From here, a long morning walk along the beach is the natural next move, sand underfoot for as far as you care to go.
On the way back, stop in at Krisna Beach Club for a swim and a lazy lunch by the water — a good excuse to linger before the heat of the day sets in. Back at the villa, a private massage therapist is waiting in the garden, table set up within earshot of the waves, for an afternoon that asks nothing more of you than to lie still and listen.
As the light turns gold, head back down to the beach for a sundowner — this stretch of Lovina coast does sunset quietly and well, no crowds, just the tide going out and a cold drink in hand.

Planning your stay.
A joglo is a traditional Javanese wooden house, built around carved teak pillars and a high pitched roof. Ours was carefully dismantled, transported and rebuilt on this beachfront plot — a true piece of Indonesian heritage.
Yes — the joglo sits in a 600 sqm garden that opens directly onto Lovina's black-sand beachfront. No road in between.
Sleeps two. It's designed as a romantic retreat for one or a couple.
There isn't a private pool, but the calm sea is at the bottom of the garden — and we can arrange day-passes at nearby beach clubs if you'd like a pool day.
The Joglo by the Sea is a single-storey antique wooden joglo right on the beachfront — warm, low and traditional. The Nest is a modern cabin on stilts above the gardens, with a rooftop terrace. Pick by mood; both sleep two.
Absolutely — every guest receives our personal guide with the best activities, hidden spots and restaurants in the area. Travel like a local.
