The experience

A day, the Samastiti way.

You wake to the sound of the river. The first light arrives slowly, and gold through the canopy, and your private terrace is already warm under bare feet. You unroll the mat by the railing and move through a long, quiet practice — only the water below for company.

Coffee comes next, taken at the wooden table outdoors by the pool. Eight minutes later, you’re inside the Yoga Barn for the nine o’clock class. After a walk along Jalan Hanoman and a relaxing massage at a local spa, breakfast at your favourite cafe, and a swim in the pool.

The afternoon is open. The Monkey Forest, the museums of Pengosekan, shopping in town — or simply lounging by the pool, with the dragonflies and a book. By evening, you’re back. The pool light is on, and dinner is on the table.

Location

The best of both worlds.

A central Ubud address on Jalan Hanoman — right in the heart of the village’s wellness street. Walk everywhere: no car or scooter needed. The pool
An infinity edge over the river.
The water spills toward the small river below and the rice field beyond. Afternoons here pass slowly — dragonflies skim the surface, kingfishers dive, a monitor lizard cuts a quiet line along the opposite bank. Few villas in central Ubud are this private, and none feel quite this close to the jungle.

Heritage

A home filled with art.

Samastiti Ubud was built by the late Dewa Nyoman Batuan, a celebrated Balinese painter whose works hang in the Neka and Arma museums. The house is, in many ways, his  canvas.

His mandala paintings still cover the interior walls; his frescoes wrap the terrace columns. Carved teak posts, hand-laid stone and three working family temples sit alongside the more private rituals of a contemporary villa. Guests are often invited to witness one of the four monthly ceremonies the family still holds here.

To stay at Samastiti is to live, for a few days, inside a piece of Bali’s artistic heritage — softly, without ever being asked to treat it as a museum.

Digital nomad & long stay

Built for the people who stay a month — or a season.

Half our Ubud guests are remote workers and yoga-teacher trainees. The house has been quietly tuned for them: a real desk, the fastest home internet in Bali, and a kitchen and laundry you can actually live with.

—— Dedicated desk + ergonomic chair

The villa is so close to restaurants, supermarket, Monkey Forest, Yoga Barn — yet completely private and quiet. The outdoor living is perfectly suited to the environment, and the pool is picturesque and refreshing.

Elizabeth

“An amazing stay. Close to numerous restaurants but a 200m walk away from the main street down a small walkway, so it was nice and quiet at night. The pool was great for cooling off and relaxing.”

Chris

“Even better than the photos suggested. Peaceful, clean, private and close enough to town without being in the centre. Communication was good, and they cleaned the villa each day without it feeling intrusive.”
